P.H. Deputy Rocky Retires
penniesf March 24th, 2008
On March 3rd, Deputy Kurt McGowan announced that the time had come for his partner, P.H. Deputy Rocky to retire from police work and begin to enjoy the green meadows and pastures with a new family in the mountains of Northeastern Washington. Deputy McGowan noted that it was a difficult decision, but the right one for both himself and of course for Rocky.
P.H. Deputy Rocky was the second commissioned police horse of Snohomish County and had served with distinction over the past 6 years. He was often seen on the streets of Snohomish County, at the Evergreen Fair each year, and he and Deputy McGowan had deployed with the Seattle Police Department during a period of unrest in the University District of Seattle.
Deputy McGown noted in his announcement that both he and Rocky really appreciated all the help and support that everyone had provided them over the last 6 years. He was especially grateful for the assistance and support of the citizens of Snohomish County.
For the present Deputy McGowan will be focusing his special operations support with the Sheriff’s Office SWAT Unit. We hope to see him back in the saddle at some point in the not too distant future.
