Working with the “Pennies for Puppies and Ponies” foundation, the Speedway will play host to a special 50/50 raffle with 50% of the proceeds planned to be donated to the Mounted Patrol Unit and 50% slated to be awared to the citizen with the winning ticket that they will be puchasing at the races (contestants must be present to win). In addition to being presented to the audience a member of the unit will be granted the honor of drawing the winning ticket and awarding, what has historically been a handsome sum of money to the winner.

“Pennies for Puppies and Ponies” received a $1,500 gift from one of Marysville’s Rotary Clubs to cover the costs of equipping and supplying K9 Deputy LIDAR. This generous contribution by the rotary was quickly put to work and allowed the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office and specifically, K9 Deputy LIDAR’s handler, Deputy Brandon McCullar to make this critical team operational in record time. “Pennies for Puppies and Ponies” gratefully thanks the members of the Marysville Rotary for their generous donation.

This spring “Pennies for Puppies and Ponies” received a second grant in the amount of $3,500 from The Tulalip Tribes to help the Sheriff’s Office’s Mounted Patrol Unit acquire special equipment for the unit’s members, including new saddles.
This generous donation follows their 2006 grant by the Tulalip Tribes of $7,000 for a much-needed third patrol K9. With the money the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office was able acquire K9 Deputy LIDAR. He and his handler, Deputy Brandon McCullar primarily serve North Snohomish County, but they are always on-call (24/7) to cover all K9-dependent incidents throughout the County. K9 Deputy LIDAR’s honorary name is “Orca” in recognition of The Tribes’ generosity and the Orca which is their logo.
Carol Flynn-White, president of “Pennies for Puppies and Ponies,” noted “that without the generosity of organizations such as the Tulalip Tribe, the success of programs such as the Pennies for Puppies and Ponies foundation and all of the programs it supports and the people who benefit would be severely impacted.” The members of the foundation and the deputies sincerely thank the Tribe on this second substantial grant from the people of the Tulalip Tribes.
